The neighborhood has a small lake at its center and plenty of cul-de-sacs. Shopping and other amenities are close by along Route 98, and Southgate Shopping Center is one and one-half miles away. The Pensacola Athletic Center is just over one-half mile away and offers a pool, fitness center, tennis and racquetball courts, as well as workshops, lessons and activities for people of all ages.

Escambia County School District’s closest schools are Pensacola Boy’s Base School, an alternative school serving grades six through 12; Little Flower Catholic School, which offers kindergarten through eighth grade; and Myrtle Grove Elementary School, a public school that also offers pre-K education.

Religious services are offered by West Pensacola Baptist Church, New Beginnings Anointed Christian Center, Myrtle Grove United Methodist Church, Fairfield Drive Baptist Church, Fairfield Presbyterian Church and Warrington Worship Center. Just south of the neighborhood is the Veterans Administration Gulf Coast hospital, and the Naval Hospital of Pensacola.

Residents have plenty to do in the surrounding area. Families enjoy visiting Gulf Breeze Zoo, which houses species from around the world and showcases plants and flowers native to Florida. Other attractions include Big Lagoon State Park, a great spot for swimming and snorkeling and Farmer’s Opry House, a venue for gospel, country, and bluegrass music as well as a campground.
