Heritage Lakes South, on the west side of Pensacola in Escambia County, runs along Aileron Avenue, midway between Lillian Highway and Dog Track Road. Both central Pensacola and Perdido Key are 15 minutes away from the community by car.
The community is rural, with undeveloped wooded areas surrounding the homes. Despite the country atmosphere, however, shopping, dining and banking are available just over one-half mile away at Blue Angel Crossing. Nearby Myrtle Grove Athletic Park offers football fields, baseball fields and a playground.
Public education is provided by the Escambia County School District through Blue Angels Elementary and Escambia High Schools, and well as private Judy Andrews School. College students can attend Troy University, the University of West Florida or Pensacola Christian College.
Blue Angel Baptist Church, Millview Church, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Liberty Church and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church are nearby. Southwest Branch Library is on Gulf View Highway.
Residents find plenty of entertainment and attractions in the surrounding area. The Pensacola Civic Center features regional sports events and concerts by nationally-known performing artists. Updated in the last decade, the facility includes an ice rink and hosts hockey and skating events.
Other points of interest in the Pensacola area include the Pensacola Little Theatre, which holds performances for children and adults; Farmer’s Opry House, which is a venue for gospel, bluegrass, and country music and offers a campground; and the Seville Quarter, a nightlife hub in the historic section downtown, which features themed rooms such as dueling pianos and an oyster bar.
