Home styles tend to be spacious brick ranches with a few two-story residences interspersed. The neighborhood is bound by Gulf Beach Highway and Bauer Road. Sage Avenue and Longwood Drive are interior roads. Southwest Public Library is located within the neighborhood.
Big Lagoon State Recreation Area is across from the library. Hiking trails provide visitors with the opportunity to observe the wildlife in the saltwater marshes and flatwoods. Big Lagoon is a good place for crabbing and provides shaded picnic areas.
Big Lagoon is just one of the parks convenient to this neighborhood. Two other parks are within four miles. Perdido Key State Park has white-sand beaches on the Gulf, and fishing is allowed here. Tarkiln Bayou Reserve State Park has easy trails and boardwalks, and links to longer trails.
Four miles east, at the intersection of Gulf Beach Highway and Blue Angel Parkway, are Target, Walmart, and fast food restaurants. A supermarket and other services are little more than a mile west on Perdido Key Road.
Residents find two golf courses within five miles. Lost Key Golf Club has several membership levels. Perdido Bay Golf Course, once the host of the Pensacola Open, is an affordable option.
Boaters find public launches off Innerarity Point Road, Southwind Marina on Big Lagoon, and Shipwatch Surf and Yacht Club on Perdido Key Drive. Big Lagoon State Recreation Area also has launch facilities.
This neighborhood is approximately six miles from Forrest Sherman Field, which houses the National Naval Aviation Museum, with IMAX and interactive exhibits. It is one of the world’s largest aviation museums.
