Edgemonte Apartments for Rent
Twelve homes make up the Edgemonte community, sitting on lots that average a quarter acre. Block-long Edgemonte Drive sits just off West Jackson Street in downtown West Pensacola. The development, which dates back to the 1950s, is filled with so many mature trees that some of the homes are half hidden from the street. Most homes were built in the sprawling ranch style that was just becoming popular during that decade. This neighborhood has a rural feel, even though it’s only one block from one of the area’s busiest east-west thoroughfares.
West Pensacola Elementary is situated a block to the north, next to the West Pensacola Audiology College. Escambia High School lies a few blocks farther away to the northwest. North of the high school sits the Osceola Municipal Golf Course, a local fixture since 1926. This course offers both memberships and public play, and the clubhouse’s Chiefs at Osceola Restaurant is a local haunt. The clubhouse’s mostly glass walls make it easy to watch the action on the greens while enjoying a meal. The Mariner Mall sits just east of the golf course, offering plenty of shopping and dining options.
Closer to home, three-acre Meadowbrook Park offers a colorful playground, picnic areas, and benches shaded by mature trees. Myrtle Grove Athletic Park, west of Edgemonte, offers 17 acres of sports fields, playgrounds, and more picnic facilities. The latter park, along with the Myrtle Grove Athletic Association, also hosts organized youth sports programs.
Heading south on New Warrington Road leads to the Corry Field Shopping Mart and the Warrington Village Shopping Center. About one mile east of these two retail areas sits the Blue Moon Antique Mall, and the Pensacola Naval Complex is almost three miles south.
