East Side Apartments for Rent

The East Side neighborhood is bounded along the east by Chemstrand Road, just off East Johnson Avenue. Some older single-family homes and mobile homes sit on large lots under the heavy shade of Pensacola’s famous live oak trees.

East Side is located quite close to a major thoroughfare, North Palafox Street, allowing residents quick access to the national retailers at North Palafox and East 9 Mile Road. These include a Walmart Supercenter and a Home Depot. One of Pensacola’s most comprehensive fitness centers is there, as well as a movie complex and several restaurants.

Two institutions of higher education are a few miles east. The University of West Florida offers undergraduate and graduate degrees, while Pensacola Junior College awards associate degrees as well as technical and vocational certificates.

Near PJC and the University of West Florida are several malls, the largest and most popular of which is Cordova Mall. The University Town Center is another lively retail area, with a Target and a Kohl’s located nearby.

Along with the almost-limitless recreational activities found at Pensacola Beach, another favorite area is the massive Escambia River Wildlife Management Area. This watershed area is where a half dozen rivers make their way to the Gulf, allowing for great fishing and swimming in the cool, spring-fed waters. The shallow waters and sandy bottoms are great for those who enjoy kayaking, canoeing, and tubing.

Those with an interest in history will appreciate the many museums and historic sites around Pensacola. The Naval Aviation Museum, located at Pensacola Naval Air Station, has 150 restored aircraft, flight simulators, and an IMAX theater. Members of the famous Blue Angels team frequently give autographs after practice. Near the Air Station are several forts dating to 1763 and an entire historic district, Seville Square.
