The city of Pensacola is pet friendly with many public dog parks. The Ashton Brosnaham Dog Park is located near the soccer complex, and is open from dawn to dusk. There is no fee to use the spacious fenced-in area, with its convenient benches and shady trees.
Chisholm Trail residents will want to visit Golf Islands National Seashore National Park on Pensacola Bay. The park is open dawn to dusk for camping, fishing, boating, swimming and picnics. The Visitor Center has displays of the ecology and wildlife of the area. The historical Fort Pickins is located in the park. Fort Pickins specifically protected the naval yard built during the Civil War. The fort was operational until after WWII.
