Located near a major retail area, the Chemwood neighborhood lies just south of East 9 Mile Road along North Palafox Road in ZIP code 32534. Ranch homes, mostly brick, sit on large, level lots in this Pensacola community.

The East 9 Mile Road intersection with North Palafox has many large retailers, including a Walmart Supercenter and a Home Depot. National fast-food and casual dining establishments are in this area as well, and several movie complexes can be found along East 9 Mile Road. The closest is Carmike 10, almost within walking distance of the Chemwood neighborhood.

The closest fitness center, Pensacourt, is almost in the neighborhood. Pensacourt offers tennis, a pool and aquacise, kids’ programs, and complete exercise facilities. Another fitness center is on Chisholm Road, less than two miles east.

Several nice golf courses are nearby. Marcus Pointe Golf Course might be the most convenient, but Scenic Hills Country Club is not too far north and east of the Chemwood community.

There are abundant recreational and entertainment areas all around Pensacola. The historic forts along the Bay are great sites at which to explore the early history and great places to walk. Fort Pickens at the Gulf Islands National Seashore is a good place to camp, swim, hike, and fish. This is the largest of the four forts and dates back to 1829.

Pensacola Lighthouse is another favorite. Frequent programs there include the spectacular Light of the Moon tour, which gives visitors a chance to view Pensacola Bay sparkling in the moonlight. It’s little wonder the Lighthouse is also a favorite wedding spot.

The Pensacola Civic Center brings a great variety of events to town, ranging from the Harlem Globetrotters to a Celtic Woman concert. City festivals offer something special each month. Mardi Gras, the JazzFest, and the Seafood Festival are heavily attended.
