Carriage Hills is a quiet residential neighborhood located northwest of downtown Pensacola, Florida. Its borders are West Michigan Avenue on the north and Mobile Highway on the south. This neighborhood offer abundant open space and spacious, wooded lawns.
Nearby Carriage Hills Park is a small park maintained by Escambia County. It features a playground with a sandy bottom, benches, picnic areas with grills and a pavilion. The park has very little grass but an abundance of shade trees.
Children in the neighborhood can attend Bellview Elementary School, Bellview Middle School and Escambia High School. All of the schools are highly-rated by parents and students and have been awarded a 3/5 community rating by GreatSchools.
Osceola Municipal Golf Course first opened in 1926. It is an 18-hole, par 72 course designed by William Earl Mehlhorn in a style with small greens and narrow fairways of Tifton Hybrid Bermuda grass. By their own admission, the facility offers the best golfing deal in town, on a course that will challenge even the most skilled golfer. The Chiefs at Osceola Restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy a meal at the clubhouse. The course is less than one mile from the Carriage Hills neighborhood.
The first Pensacola Interstate Fair was held in 1935. Today the fair takes place on the city’s own fairgrounds within two miles of the neighborhood. For 10 days in October, the park grounds hark back to their past and host a real old-fashioned agricultural fair, with farm animal exhibits, a midway with rides and entertainment, and plenty of food. The remainder of the year, the fairgrounds are home to monthly auctions and a variety of events.
When residents want to dine out, a wide selection of restaurants are located on Mobile Highway. For dining in, there are also a Publix and a Winn Dixie.
