The community of Birnam Woods is on the east side of Pensacola in Escambia County, Florida, next to Bayou Texar. Birnam Woods can be accessed from Bayou Boulevard at Banquois Trail. Central Pensacola is nine minutes away by car, and Pensacola Beach is 20 minutes away.

The neighborhood features lush foliage, including plenty of tropical vegetation, and public access to the bayou. Shopping and other amenities are available one mile south on Cervantes Boulevard. The closest park is Miralla Park, which offers a walking path, baseball and softball fields, a playground and a basketball court.

Public education is provided by the Escambia County School District. The closest schools are St. Paul’s Catholic School, a kindergarten to eighth grade school; Creative Learning Academy, offering pre-K to eighth grade; and A. K. Suter Elementary School, a public school for kindergarten to fifth grade. College students can attend Pensacola Junior College, Virginia College, or Pensacola Christian College.

Religious services in the surrounding area can be found at St. Paul Catholic Church, St. James Baptist Church, Fundamental Baptist Church, Heights Baptist Church and the Bahai Faith center. The closest library is the West Florida Regional Library on Gregory Street.

Families will find plenty to do in the surrounding area. The Gulf Breeze Zoo covers over 50 acres, and features animal varieties from around the world as well as native Florida vegetation in its scenic gardens. The zoo features a train that operates around the grounds, a giraffe-feeding station and an interactive petting zoo.

Cultural attractions in the area include the Pensacola Opera and the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra, Saenger Theatre, Pensacola Little Theatre, the National Naval Aviation Museum and the Pensacola Lighthouse and Museum, which offers guided tours to the top of the lighthouse.
