Pensacola at a Glance
Ensley-N Central Pensacola
Ensley is a large neighborhood located north of Pensacola. Considered a CDP (Census-Designated Place), Ensley is home to about 18,750 people. Ensley is near the University of West Florida, the Cordova Mall, and the Pensacola International Airport.
Because Ensley is such a large community, there are several smaller neighborhoods located within Ensley. These include Grand Cayman, Lincoln Park, North Central Pensacola, Forge Place, Governor’s Square, and Chemwood.
Governor’s Square is just west of University Parkway. This is a small neighborhood that is only a mile from the University of West Florida. Scenic Highway is just two miles away. This drive offers amazing views of Pensacola Bay. Governor’s Square is also close to the Escambia Wildlife Management Area, a great place for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, fishing, and enjoying the cool, spring-fed waters.
Chemwood is located on the south side of East 9 Mile Road. It is located near several shops and restaurants, along with a variety of movie theaters. Pensacourt is a fitness center with tennis courts and a swimming pool. Chemwood is also convenient to several area golf courses, including Marcus Pointe Golf Course and Scenic Hills Country Club.
The Ensley area features a variety of historic and recreational attractions. Visit Old Pensacola and Santa Rosa Island to visit the four historic forts (the oldest dating to 1763). Other terrific locations include Seville Square, which contains museums, art galleries, historic homes, and the Pensacola Museum of Art.
Residents of Ensley can take Pensacola Boulevard into downtown Pensacola, where they can attend a sporting event or concert at Pensacola Bay Center or Pensacola Bayfront Stadium. Pensacola Beach and Gulf Islands National Seashore is a short drive from Ensley.
