The northwestern boundary of Bay Oak Villas is Spanish Trail Road, with Langley Avenue serving as its southwestern boundary. Spanish Trail Place is the neighborhood’s only street, looping around to meet Spanish Trail Road twice. The single-family homes in Bay Oak Villas were built in the 1980s on small home sites, and many share a driveway. The level street, partially shaded with tall pines and other trees, is pedestrian-friendly, although there are no sidewalks in the area, so caution should be taken for traffic.

Parks and recreational areas near Bay Oak Villas include Lavallet Park, which offers almost four and one-half acres with a walking path, a playground, a drinking fountain, a picnic shelter and benches spread out under tall pines with open grassy space. The 16-acre Hitzman-Optimist Park offers baseball, softball, soccer, picnic tables, grills, benches under shady trees, a covered shelter and a playground.

The Roger Scott Athletic Complex is located on the west side of the airport, featuring a swimming pool, a tennis center, fenced dog parks and soccer, softball, baseball and football fields. The Vickrey Community Center also occupies the area.

For shopping, dining and entertainment, a number of shopping areas are located west of Bay Oaks Villas, including University Mall, Pensacola Mall, Cordova Collections Mall and the Rave Motion Pictures Bayou 15. Other sites of note in this area are Pensacola Christian College, Sacred Heart Health System and Pensacola State College.
