Orlando, located in central Florida’s Orange County, is home to more than 95 attractions, 5,000 restaurants, 2,000 lakes, and more than twenty miles of fitness trails. On the city’s southeast side is the small residential neighborhood of LaVina. Narcoossee Road (County Road 15) borders LaVina on the west. To the neighborhood’s north is the Martin Anderson Beachline Expressway also known as Route 528.
Just east of the Orlando International Airport, LaVina is in Orlando’s 32832 zip code. The Orlando International Airport serves more than 30 million travelers a year, making it the thirteenth busiest airport in the United States. The area surrounding the airport offers residents and visitors a variety of shopping and dining options.
The Southport Community Park is on the other side of the airport, about fifteen minutes from LaVina and is a place for area residents to enjoy hiking trails, playgrounds, and scenic picnic areas. There are facilities for multiple sports including soccer, basketball, volleyball, and baseball.
LaVina is conveniently close to the sprawling 1,800-acre Split Oak Forest Mitigation Park. An environmental area and forest, this park has been designated for the protection of the gopher tortoise. In addition to the gopher tortoise, visitors may see armadillos, otters, and alligators. There are miles of trails for hiking and exploring with the North Loop trail connecting to Moss Park. Moss Park has picnic shelters for outings, camping areas, hiking trails, and a sand volleyball court.
About two miles north of LaVina, on Narcoossee Road a several retail stores, including national chains. Two miles to the south is the Cornerstone at Lake Hart complex with shops, a grocer, and restaurants.
The LaVina neighborhood is about twenty-five minutes from downtown Orlando and sites like the Orange County History Center and the Amway Arena, which is home to the NBA’s Orlando Magic basketball team.
