Located six miles north of Orlando, the city of Maitland is the oldest city in Central Florida, incorporated in 1885.
In 1838, Fort Maitland was established by the U.S. Army. Later, after the fort was gone, settlers came for the natural spring water and abundant pine forests. Around the end of the Civil War, citrus farmers began to plant groves.
Today, Maitland is a charming location for renting apartments with its parks, lakes, and proximity to Orlando. In addition, the University of Central Florida is just 10 miles east of Maitland. UCF, founded in 1963, is the third-largest university by enrollment in the nation.
Maitland’s extensive park system includes Jim Houser Azalea Garden, with pathways through the gardens, Covered Bridge Park, featuring a vine-covered bridge, and Lake Lily Park, home to the Farmer’s Market and arts festivals.
If you are looking for an apartment rental near Orlando, Maitland’s history, charm, and location make it an excellent choice.
