Built after the Great Fire of 1901 destroyed Jacksonville’s business district, Robinson’s Addition was designed around the city’s streetcar line and still has remnants of the era, such as an intact former streetcar electrical substation. The wood-framed houses in Robinson’s Addition were built in a range of decades, from the 1910s to the 1970s. Churches and stores occupy some street corners in this downtown neighborhood. The neighborhood is close to shopping and conveniences, including the Jacksonville Farmers Market, which is less than a mile away on Beaver Street. A Publix supermarket is about two miles away, and downtown Jacksonville is filled with specialty shops. Many churches and restaurants are within walking distance of the community. The neighborhood is close to Interstate 10 and Interstate 95, which connect to the Jacksonville beaches, the Jacksonville International Airport, and Naval Station Mayport.
