Lakewood Neighborhood

A middle-class, well-established metropolitan community, Lakewood is located in Duval County, Jacksonville, Florida in the zip code area of 32207. The median age of residents in the Lakewood neighborhood is 38 years. Bordered by Emerson Street to the north, Saint Augustine Road to the east, Christopher Creek to the south and the Saint John River to the west, this community is pedestrian friendly and has public transportation available.

Lakewood is comprised mainly of single-family homes, apartments, and condominiums conveniently close to shopping areas and desirable amenities that fulfill the needs and wants of Lakewood’s residents.

Public schools for the Lakewood neighborhood include Englewood Elementary School, Hendricks Avenue Elementary School, San Jose Elementary School, Julia E. The University of Florida and Virginia College in Jacksonville are located within 15 minutes of the Lakewood community.

The Jacksonville-Baldwin Trail was once a railroad track and has been turned into a popular hiking and bicycle trail. Canine friends will be happy to visit Dog Wood Park with fenced play areas, swimming ponds, and fields to run in. This park was named one of America’s best dog parks in Dog Fancy magazine 2009. Julington Animal Walk is an alternate choice for a nearby dog park and features nature trails and an on-site animal hospital.

Popular golf courses are close at hand, such as San Jose Country Club, Deerwood Country Club, and Hyde Park Golf Club. Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Jacksonville Beach and Ponte Vedra Beach are all within a 30-minute drive of Lakewood, featuring water sport activities, fishing, and boating.

The Museum of Science and History, Alexander Brest Planetarium, and the Jacksonville Maritime Museum, which is located near the well-known Friendship Fountain on the Southbank Riverwalk, are among some of the attractions convenient to the Lakewood neighborhood.
