Outer Lakewood-West Corridor Neighborhood

Head west from Denver, Colorado and you’ll discover the beautiful community of Golden situated at the base of the Rocky Mountains. The name fits – town sparkles – but it is actually named in honor of Thomas L. Golden, a miner from Georgia who arrived to the area during the Pike’s Peak Gold Rush of 1858. Golden is home to the Colorado School of Mines, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the Colorado Railroad Museum, and Coors Brewing Company.

The Outer Lakewood-West Corridor neighborhood is located on the east side of 6th Avenue. This area contains the Fossil Trace Golf Club, Ulysses Park, and the Colorado School of Mines. Golden Pines, Golden Ridge, and Bergen Park are popular neighborhoods in the area.

The Heritage Dells Park, located a few blocks away, is the midpoint for the Kinney Run Trail that goes through the park. Children can play at a playground or basketball court, and go sledding in wintertime. Also nearby are the Splash Aquatic Park and the Fossil Trace Golf Course. Bicycling is popular in this area; Golden is known as one of the friendliest places to bike.

Bus service is widely available in the community. The 6th Avenue Freeway intersects with Interstate 70, taking residents directly to the largest shopping and dining area in the county. The Colorado Mills Mall is in Lakewood, Colorado, and is the border between these two cities. Outer Lakewood-West Corridor residents are four miles away from more than 200 name brand stores and restaurants.
