Located in the southeastern quadrant of San Francisco, the community was originally settled by Irish and Italian immigrants who worked in nearby factories. To the east, right outside the neighborhood, is Bayview Park, which offers 19 acres for hiking and biking, as well as scenic views of the San Francisco Bay. The park is attached to Candlestick Park, which is an outdoor sports and entertainment stadium next to the bay.
