Silver Terrace Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Silver Terrace is a residential neighborhood in the southeast part of San Francisco. The neighborhood is in one of the sunnier areas of San Francisco. Its boundaries are Highway 280 to the northwest, Newcomb Avenue to the northeast, Newhall Street to the southeast, and Highway 101 to the southwest. Being so close to both of the major freeways makes it easy to get to the San Francisco Airport and the cities of the South Bay.
The Silver Terrace Playground is a park containing swings, slides, and climbing structures on sand, as well as a lighted baseball/soccer field with artificial turf, and tennis and basketball courts. The Palou and Phelps mini-park has playground equipment, benches, and lawns. Trails offer city views, and in the spring the grass is dotted with wildflowers.
John McLaren Park, the city’s second-largest park, is nearby. It contains many recreational facilities, including an indoor pool, playgrounds, sports fields and courts, picnic tables, and a nine-hole golf course. An amphitheater with seating for 700 provides a lovely spot for outdoor performances. Most of the park is open space, containing a lake, a reservoir, and miles of hiking trails.
The neighborhood has two schools. Thurgood Marshall Academic High School has about 700 students in grades 9 through 12. Willie L. Brown, Jr. Elementary School has about 220 students in grades 4 through 8.
There is a good variety of restaurants on San Bruno Avenue and on nearby 3rd Street.
The “T” Muni Metro line provides a quick trip downtown, and several other bus lines run through the neighborhood.
