Bernts Knoll Apartments for Rent

Although it is technically a neighborhood in central San Francisco, Bernt’s Knoll is actually the northern end of John McLaren Park. It is almost entirely made up of trees and public use buildings, and very few residents actually call Bernt’s Knoll home. However, for those who do, the neighborhood is idyllic.

Only one road goes through the Bernt’s Knoll area: John F. Shelley Drive. Mansell Steet borders Bernt’s Knoll on the south, cutting John McClaren Park virtually in half, while the rest of the borders of Bernt’s Knoll are capped by individual roads from minor neighborhoods on the east, north, and west of the community.

Popular attractions in Bernt’s Knoll are quite diverse. The Jerry Garcia Amphitheater is a popular community center, and hosts a variety of functions. Equally popular is McNab Lake, which holds wild water fowl of various kinds all year long. It is extremely common to see photographers on the banks of McNab Lake hoping to catch some of the rarer birds that use it as a watering hole.

Yet perhaps the most popular of all within Bernt’s Knoll is the Louis Sutter Playground, a large play area for children and adults of various shapes and sizes. With a softball diamond, soccer field, and tennis, racquetball, and baseball courts, the Louis Sutter Playground is definitely the hot spot in all of Bernt’s Knoll. The park even offers a large dog play area where canines can go off leash.

Just south of Bernt’s Knoll, yet still within John McClaren Park, is the Gleneagles Golf Course. Although only a nine hole course, Gleneagles is notorious among local golfers for being a difficult course that rewards innovative tactical play.
