Plaza is a medium-sized, moderately populated community of Long Beach, California. East Spring Street borders the neighborhood to the north, while East Willow Street serves as the southern border of the Plaza community. Plaza is bordered to the west by Palo Verde Avenue, and to the east by North Studebaker Road.
The Long Beach Airport is two and a half miles west of Plaza. Several major airlines fly out of the Long Beach Airport, and it often offers cheaper flights than those out of LAX or Burbank airport.
The massive El Dorado Region Park neighbors Plaza to the east, and it is within walking distance of anywhere in the community. Train rides are available within the park through Caboose Corners, and pedal boats are available for rent. The park hosts a campground, over four miles of campgrounds, barbecue grills, a nature center, playgrounds for children, picnic tables, and picnic shelters. Young people enjoy the model sailboat areas and model aircraft flying areas.
The quirky American Museum of Straw Art is only a half-mile southwest of the Plaza neighborhood. The Rancho Los Alamitos Museum, a rich history museum, is only two miles south of Plaza, while the University Art Museum is only two miles southwest of the community. The popular Museum of Latin American Art is only five miles southwest of Plaza.
Plaza is a popular neighborhood for college students, thanks to its proximity to California State University, which is located less than two miles south of the neighborhood. There is no shortage of educational opportunities in and around the Plaza vicinity. Long Beach City College is a little over two miles northwest of Plaza, while the American Language Institute is two miles to its south.
