Downtown Long Beach Neighborhood

The Queen Mary, the Aquarium of the Pacific, the Long Beach Arena, and the Convention Center are all located on Shoreline Drive, where walking is the norm. Shoreline Drive is also a portion of the Long Beach Grand Prix route. These are the places tourists head for when visiting Downtown Long Beach, but the city is home to much more.

Downtown Long Beach, zip code 90806, is a large area with single-family homes, apartments, townhomes, and condos. Long Beach is California’s fifth largest city. It is bordered on the west by Interstate 710, on the north by the Pacific Coast Highway, on the east by Cheny Avenue, and the southern border is the Pacific Ocean.

Residents of Downtown Long Beach are never far from the water. Bus service is widely available and the trolley system takes residents to many locations in Long Beach, some free of charge. The transportation system extends into the other areas in Los Angeles County, as well.

Schools are set into the residential areas. Local markets or services are on nearly every corner. Boutique shopping and dining experiences are abundant near the attractions and the beach. Of the many Long Beach parks, Bixby Park is a favorite. It is well-lit and has a playground for the kids. The large grass area is perfect for soccer, and there is also a popular skate park. The teen center sponsors many youth programs.
