Wrigley Neighborhood

The charming Wrigley neighborhood in Long Beach, California is named for William Wrigley, the owner and founder of Wrigley Spearmint Gum. The city of Long Beach lies along the state’s coast, allowing for easy year-round access to California’s many beaches.

Wrigley’s boundaries are Interstate 405 to the north, the Pacific Coast Highway to the south, the Los Angeles River and Interstate 710 to the west, and Long Beach Boulevard to the east. Such prime access to the local freeways, coupled with its location near the Blue Line light rail, makes Wrigley an attractive home for commuter business professionals.

This historic neighborhood was established in 1905 as one of Long Beach’s very first communities. Its streets are still lined with Spanish Colonial Revivals from the 1920s, which sit among a mixture of modern residences. Wrigley children attend schools in the Long Beach Unified School District.

Most local shopping and dining spots lie along Pacific Avenue. The Wrigley Marketplace is a prime shopping district that boasts a variety of stores.

The nearby Veteran’s Park offers its visitors basketball courts, playgrounds, soccer fields, and tennis courts. The Los Angeles River also provides several parks, as well as a biking/walking trail. Daisy Avenue’s grassy area is quite popular with local joggers.

There are numerous active resident groups in the area, including The Wrigley Association and Wrigley is Going Green. These groups host events and speakers, plant trees, and hold community clean ups. Wrigley is also home to the annual Daisy Avenue “Christmas Tree Lane” parade, which draws people from all over the greater Long Beach and Los Angeles County areas.
