Located on the Chattahoochee River, Phenix is a picturesque city located 45 minutes from Auburn and Auburn State University, and six minutes from Columbus, Georgia. First incorporated in 1883 as the Town of Brownville, the name was changed in 1889.
From the Phenix City Amphitheater and Riverwalk, which hosts several concerts and events a year, to the East Alabama Motor Speedway to the Lakewood Golf Course, there truly is something for everyone in Phenix City.
Nearby Columbus features the Columbus Museum, the largest art and history museum in Georgia, and one of the largest in the Southeast. Columbus is also home to the National Civil War Naval Museum at Port Columbus, which has several events and exhibits, including “Cool History,” a living history program held during the summer months.
