Lyons Park Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Lyons Park is a Mobile, Alabama neighborhood. This neighborhood has Dauphin Street as its southern border. North Ann Street forms its eastern border, meeting County Road 45 to form the northern border. This goes on to the hospital complex, where the western border then turns back to the south.
The hospital complex is quite large. About half of it is contained within Lyons Park. This includes the University of South Alabama (USA) Women and Children’s Hospital, one of only six of its kind in the entire United States. Also, here is the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute. Formerly the USA Cancer Institute, this facility was renamed after a generous donation by Mobile’s own Mitchell family in 2006. The Infirmary Health System and the Mobile Infirmary Medical Center also reside in this complex, though these are not within the neighborhood boundaries.
The namesake of this neighborhood, Lyons Park itself, is located in the north central area of this neighborhood. Park amenities include a baseball field, tennis, walking trails, and a wading pool, among others. On the south side of the park, Springhill Avenue is home to a number of the local businesses.
McGill-Toolen Catholic High School is at home on Old Shell Road, serving about 1,100 students in grades nine through twelve, since 1973.
Lyons Park is nicely shaded, with mature trees throughout. Many of the homes exhibit classic southern style, and are quite pleasing to view. The population of this neighborhood is approximately 1,800 people, in an area of under three quarters of a square mile. Zip codes are 36604 and 36607.
