Mountain Slopes can be accessed by Shadowbrook Lane from Hollington Drive Northeast. The neighborhood is located between Monte Sano State Park and Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University.
Monte Sano has drawn people to its mountain air to enjoy the views and improve their health since the 1820s. The park has charming stone cottages built by the Civilian Conservation Corps and now on the National Register of Historic Places. The park also has great hiking trails and is dog-friendly.

The University of Alabama Huntsville is the largest, focusing on science and medical fields. Nearby J. F. Drake State Technical College offers two-year degrees.
The neighborhood retail center is on Memorial Parkway Southwest. Here shoppers will find a Costco, specialty stores, a bowling center, and several casual restaurants. The Madison County Farmers Market is here as well.
For a truly upscale shopping experience, Bridge Street Town Centre offers a planned residential, entertainment, office, and recreation district. Bridge Street has a 10-acre lake with boat rides and watercraft rentals. A carousel and fountains create a park-like atmosphere. Bridge Street is less than nine miles from the Mountain Slopes neighborhood.
Visit Harrison Brother Hardware for quaint home decor items. The store is now operated by the Historic Huntsville Foundation and is the oldest continuously operating hardware store in the state.
