Legacy Cove is an independent neighborhood located near the Huntsville International Airport. The major point of interest near the neighborhood, the Huntsville International Airport is a commercial airport with access to airlines including United, Continental, Delta, and AirTran. To the north of the airport, golfers can work on their back-swings at the Jetport Municipal Golf Course.

Legacy Cove is somewhat isolated, sitting a few minutes away from the nearest residential areas. Its western border is major thoroughfare Zierdt Road. This road also connects to Legacy Cove Drive SW to form the neighborhood’s northern border. The eastern boundary follows Sage Willow Drive SW which curves to the south. Its southernmost point marks the southern boundary, which is bounded by trees.

The nearest school to Legacy Cove is to the north. The J. E. Williams Elementary School is part of the Huntsville City Schools system and educates students from third through fifth grades. Kids can get a different kind of education from the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge which offers hunting, fishing, a wildlife observation building, and plenty of opportunities for educational field trips and hiking or mountain biking.

Commercial establishments are clustered to the north of Legacy Cove and include Wal-Mart Supercenter for daily necessities. Further north in the heart of Madison, a suburb of Huntsville, are several local businesses, including Main Street Cafe. Just to the south, hotels including the Radisson Inn and Holiday Inn offer visitors a place to stay close to restaurants like Pizza Hut and Golden Rule Barbecue.
