Prospect Park Neighborhood

Prospect Park is a neighborhood in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The neighborhood is part of the 55414 zip code and is located south of Como Avenue, and north of the Mississippi River. Homes in the area were mostly built before 1940, adding a little history to the neighborhood. The area is also known for having an abundance of detached dwellings, with most of them lived in by the actual owners.

One of the most obvious draws to the area is the University of Minnesota, located to the west along the Mississippi River. This large university provides much of the education to residents throughout the region. The school is also a great sense of pride, with many residents supporting the school’s sports programs. It is common to see college shirts, banners flying, and billboards showing support throughout the different sports seasons. The basketball teams play at Williams Arena and the football team at TCF Bank Stadium, both of which are located on campus and major destinations on game days.

On the other side of the Mississippi River off 5th Street is the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome. This large arena provides a great deal of entertainment to area residents. Throughout the year, the Metrodome is used for sporting events, major concerts, large shows, and much more.

Just north of the Metrodome is Mill City Museum. This interesting museum is built on the ruins of an old flour mill. The museum tells the history of Minneapolis, the Mississippi River, and of the flour industry all in one place. Mill City is a popular destination for school field trips, but is also a great place for those who enjoy learning about history in a unique format.

There are also many recreational options in the area, including Town and Country Golf Club and many parks, all within a mile of Prospect Park.
