Located in the 55409 zip code area in south Minneapolis, Kingfield is primarily a residential community. Lining the streets of this quiet neighborhood are mostly single-family homes and some apartment complexes. A few commercial areas provide residents with shopping and dining options within the community. You’ll also find a dog park in this pet-friendly neighborhood, as well as a seasonal weekly farmer’s market. Also within the neighborhood is a Center for the Performing Arts, located at 3754 Pleasant Avenue.
Kingfield is located in Hennepin County. Its borders are created by 36th Street on the north, 46th Street on the South, Lyndale Avenue on the west, and Stevens Avenue on the east. Kingfield prides itself on being a safe community, with residents that are willing to volunteer and work together to make the neighborhood a better place. Neighborhood volunteers worked together to create the beautiful community gardens, and a crime prevention and safety committee meets regularly to address community issues.
Near the community’s eastern border, at 4055 Nicollet Avenue, you’ll find Dr. Martin Luther King Park and Recreation Center. A dozen or so other small parks are also located within a few miles of Kingfield, as are Lake Harriet and Lake Calhoun. These popular visitor destinations offer plenty of things to see and do outdoors, including hiking and biking trails, beaches, playing fields, playgrounds, and picnic areas. The Reed-Sweatt Family Tennis Center is also located nearby, at 4005 Nicollet Avenue.
Avid golfers will delight in area courses, including the Hiawatha Golf Course, a few miles to the east, and Minikahda Club Golf Course, a few miles west on the other side of Lake Calhoun. A bit further west, you’ll also find Meadowbrook Golf Course, Edina Country Club and Golf Course, and Interlachen Country Club and Golf Course. As you can see, the only problem Kingfield golfers are likely to have is deciding which greens to play on.
Schools located within the Kingfield community include Lake Country Montessori School at 3755 Pleasant Avenue.
