As one of the oldest permanent settlements in the nation, the modern city of Green Bay began with a small trading post established by French explorer Jean Nicolet in 1634. The small but densely-populated city curves along a bay of the same name. With the bay of Green Bay and the wide expanse of Lake Michigan before it, life in Green Bay centers on the water: fishing, swimming, and boating are popular pastimes.
When most people think, “Green Bay,” they automatically think, “Packers.” The National Football League’s Green Bay Packers were established in 1919, making them one of the oldest franchises in the NFL. Those renting apartments in Green Bay can watch the four-time Super Bowl champions play at Lambeau Field, the second largest stadium in Wisconsin.
Green Bay wraps around a historic downtown shopping area filled with boutiques, cafes, restaurants, and antique stores. The city is home to two farmers’ markets, several museums and historic sites, and events such as Bayfest, Summer in the Park, Artstreet, and Winterfest on Broadway.
