South Tacoma Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
South Tacoma is a place that at once is progressive and laid back. It is close to Interstate 5, and not far from Wapato Lake, both to the east. South Tacoma is also devoted to the creation and maintenance of parks that everyone can enjoy. Recently, residents were successful in planning and establishing a park in Wapato Hills, precisely to retain the beauty and enjoyment of the area for all.
Ft. Lewis is located in South Tacoma, and it was no mistake putting the base there, not far from the waters of the Pacific Ocean. Ft. Lewis is an important military base for the west coast states, and for the United States in general.
To the west of the city is the beautiful Pacific Ocean. The city of Tacoma is overshadowed by majestic Mount Hood. At over 11,000 feet, Mount Hood is one of the tallest mountains on the west coast. It offers camping and skiing opportunities that can’t be found elsewhere.
The towering Douglas fir trees around Tacoma are, in some cases, so tall that they approach the height of the Redwoods of California. Giant ferns also grace the area and lend an air of seclusion, even in town.
There are plenty of places to go fishing, as well, since there are several small lakes nearby, and the Pacific Ocean is so close.
South Tacoma also has many outstanding museums. Among the various great museums here are the museum of glass, the Tacoma Art Museum, Washington State History Museum, Children’s Museum of Tacoma, Harold E. Lemay Museum, and Karpeles Manuscript Museum.
Tacoma has a long history, and for its many residents, guests, and tourists passing through the area, it isn’t at all short on local attractions, landmarks, and scenic vistas.
