Salmon Creek Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Salmon Creek is a neighborhood located between Seattle and Burien Washington on the shores of Puget Sound. Much of the area is taken up by Salmon Creek Ravine Park. The area is bordered on the east by Ambaum Boulevard SW and Puget Sound on the west.
The northern boundary of the neighborhood is S.W. 116th Street and the southern boundary abuts Ed Monro Seahurst Park. Shorewood Park is also located in this area. Neighbors can commute to downtown Seattle or to Tacoma along Highway 509, and enjoy the amenities of West Seattle, such as the shopping area along S.W Alaska Street. Just north of this neighborhood, Washington State Ferries carry travelers to the Kitsap Peninsula and Vashon Island from Fauntleroy Ferry Dock. A water taxi transports commuters to downtown Seattle in the summer as well. Marine View Drive runs along the waterfront.
Salmon Creek Ravine Park was the site of logging in the early years of the neighborhood’s development. The park comprises over 88 acres along the Salmon Creek and is mainly used by hikers who explore the wooded area and riverside trails.
Ambaum Shopping Center on S.W Ambaum Boulevard caters to shoppers in the area, but the proximity to Southcenter Shopping Mall is also a draw. Jacob Ambaum Park contains a play structure, basketball courts and a picnic area. The fenced park was named after Jacob Ambaum, who was an early settler of the area and celebrated as a realtor who brought both streets and a trolley car to the neighborhood.
