Harbor Island is an industrial neighborhood in Seattle, Washington. This neighborhood is made up entirely of industry. It is the center of the industrial district of Seattle. This particular area is also one of the largest employment destinations throughout the immediate area. With numerous large industries located on the island, many employees are needed to keep them operating efficiently. It is common to find many of the area employees living just outside the industrial areas in the many surrounding residential neighborhoods.

Harbor Island is an area that is close to almost everything great about Seattle. To the north only a little over a mile is the Sports Center of Seattle. Just off of 4th Avenue is Quest Field and Safeco Field. Qwest Field is the home of the professional football team, the Seattle Seahawks, while Safeco Field is the home of the professional baseball team, the Seattle Mariners. Both teams are incredibly popular in the area and it is common to see the stadiums packed with fans on game days. Both of these venues also play host to many area concerts and events throughout the year.

North of Quest Field off of Pike Street about four miles from Harbor Island is one of the most famous markets in the United States. Pike Place Market is the oldest market in Seattle and easily one of the most famous attractions in the area. Known for their wide variety of imports, interesting crafts, and seafood, the market draws in tourists from around the world on a daily basis. One of the signatures of the market is the flying fish. Fisherman operating at the market will toss their fish from one person to the next until it is properly packaged and ready for sale. Sometimes the customer is even able to catch their own fish as onlookers ready their cameras.
