Spring, TX Apartments for Rent

Located on Houston’s north side just south of the Woodlands, Spring is a fantastic community in a rapidly-growing area. If you are looking for apartments in Spring, get ready to discover this fun little community filled with parks and greenspace, a historic downtown, and exciting attractions.

Before the 1800s, Spring saw a few trading posts established by the French and Spaniards, but it wasn’t until the early 19th century that settlers began to move into the area. When Texas gained independence from Mexico in 1836 and the city of Houston was founded, the tiny town of Spring began to grow. The name actually comes from railroad track workers who came through the area in the 1870s. The winter was harsh and difficult. When they reached a small settlement and winter finally gave way to spring, they decided to name the area “Camp Spring.” The “Camp” part was dropped in 1873.

Today, Old Town Spring is a popular destination for the entire Houston metro area. Historic little houses line the pedestrian-friendly streets, housing quaint boutiques, bakeries, antique stores, and more. Behind the false fronts, colonnades, and balconies that are sure to remind you of the Wild West, you’ll discover some amazing treasures. After choosing your Spring apartment, you may find yourself wandering through a shop like Frou Frou Galore, having lunch at a restaurant like Puffabelly’s or the Black Sheep Bistro, sampling wine at Wimberley Valley Tasting Room, or perusing Texas treats at Walking Horse.

After moving into your apartment in Spring, be sure to check out some of the annual events the community is famous for, such as SpringFest, PetFest, and the wildly popular Texas Crawfish & Music Festival. In addition to live music and terrific food (crawfish!), this festival features amusement rides and a midway.

You’ll also want to check out the Spring Creek Greenway, a 12-mile nature path ideal for hiking, jogging, and bicycling. The Greenway leads through natural forests and along the creek’s white, sandy beaches. The trails starts at Dennis Johnston Park in Spring and ends at Jesse H. Jones Park and Nature Center in Humble, Texas.  Parks along the way include the 380-acre Pundt Park, the 120-acre Stahl Preserve, and the 115-acre Carter Park.

And when you are done hiking (or shopping, or attending a festival), you’ll be able to head over to Wet ‘n’ Wild Splashtown! Just think – your Spring apartment will put Houston’s largest water park in your backyard! Rides include the adrenaline-inducing Brain Drain, a seven-story, 333-foot slide with a 360-degree turn. You’ll also be able to tackle the RipQurl, the Texas Freefall, and the 30-foot Wala Wals Falls. If you are looking for something less thrilling and more family-friendly, the park also offers a lazy river, a wave pool, and a Big Lagoon Activity Pool.
