Northern Hills is a neighborhood in San Antonio. The borders of the community are Thousand Oaks Drive to the west, Stahl Road to the north, Higgins Road to the east, and Uhr Lane to the south.
Northern Hills Elementary School is located within the neighborhood, on Higgins Road. This school welcomes students in grades K-5 and was named a Texas Education Agency exemplary school in 2009.
Northern Hills Golf Course is an 18-hole, semi-private golf course located in the neighborhood. A gated community of beautiful homes was built around the golf course. Most are owner-occupied, but there are some vacation rentals in this golf community.
The Waters at Northern Hills is a very upscale rental community with great amenities and lovely grounds. It offers a wide selection of apartment styles and sizes. Units come with one or two bedrooms and offer either a balcony or a patio plus covered parking. Apartments have a fireplace, full-size washer and dryer, and walk-in closets. The community has a private fishing lake, three pools, and a playground. Built in the early 1980s, it has more than 300 units available.
Northern Hills is a great place to live and has a very active homeowners’ association. The community pool is operated by the Northern Hills Swim Club, which is a non-profit community organization. Members get to use the pool and enjoy discounts on amenities, such as swimming lessons and swim teams. The pool typically is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
The Northern Hills neighborhood has a wide variety of homes, some on the small side and others, quite large. The yards are a good size and well landscaped. This is a very popular neighborhood with sidewalks on most streets and public bus service available on main thoroughfares.
