Midtown Neighborhood in San Antonio, TX

The Midtown area of San Antonio is one of the most popular areas of this city. It is a centrally located area that consists of several smaller neighborhoods. The zip code for this part of the city is 78212. The northern edge of the area is bounded by West Hildebrand Avenue. The eastern edge is located right at McAllister Freeway or Interstate 37. The western border is situated at U.S. Highway 87 (Fredericksburg Road) and Interstate 10, and the southern boundary is Interstate 35.

The area includes the Alta Vista, Tobin Hill, Five Points, and Monte Vista neighborhoods. Monte Vista is a famous historical district that gives the entire area a unique flavor that distinguishes it from the other neighborhoods in the city. Houses in the area tend to be character homes, and there is a lot of Spanish Revival architecture throughout most of the different neighborhoods, giving this entire large section of the city the feeling of being a real neighborhood as a whole.

The area is also very close to the downtown business district, so residents don’t have to commute far to get to work. Its charm and character help people feel that they can truly get away from the frenzied pace of life in the center of the city.

Trinity College is located at the edge of the area, and San Antonio College is right inside this community. This makes it a popular area for college students as well as young professionals and growing families. Because of the presence of two colleges in the area, restaurants and shops cater to this population, and this has kept the economy in this district very stable.

Brackenridge Park is located just to the east of the area. The Sunken Garden Theater is closest to this community, but the zoo is also very close. It is also a short distance from Fort Sam Houston and Metropolitan Methodist Hospital.
