Hart Ranch is a small, rectangular subdivision in the northern part of San Antonio. It is sandwiched between De Zavala Road, which serves as the northernmost boundary, and Elk Valley which is the southern border. It is convenient to the Charles Anderson Loop and to U.S. Highway 87, which becomes Interstate 10.
It is a short distance from Camp Bulis, part of the Leon Springs Military Reservation. Leon Springs is used as the maneuvering grounds for combat units in the Air Force, the Army and the Marines. It is also used for field training for medical units, stationed at nearby Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston.
The homes in this community are primarily brick, single family dwellings. Some are single story structures, but most are two stories. The nice big houses in this neighborhood range from about 2000 to 2500 square feet. The oldest homes in the area date from 1995, and the most construction was done between 1995 and 2000.
This neighborhood is exceptionally convenient to the University of Texas at San Antonio. The Charles Anderson Loop makes it easy to get to most other parts of the city, including the widely popular Riverwalk, a promenade of shops, restaurants, festivals and markets along a loop of the San Antonio River. The Riverwalk is the most popular tourist attraction in San Antonio. Residents and tourists can take a 35-minute cruise for a narrated history of the Riverwalk. Romantic dinner cruises are also available. North of downtown and closer to Hart Ranch, residents and tourists can take the the 75 minute tour of Natural Bridge Caverns, the largest cavern in Texas.
