Country is a community just east of U.S. Highway 281 and north of the San Antonio International Airport. Area neighborhoods include Bitters, Arboretum, Gardens at Brookhollow, Santa Fe Trials, and North Central Heritage. Significant area roadways include Bitters Road, East Nakoma Drive, Jones Mattsberger Road, and Heimer Road. This Bexar County community has a San Antonio ZIP code of 78216.

Although proximity to the airport is a major draw for many Country residents, it isn’t the only thing this community has to offer. Several smaller parks are situated on the other side of the highway, within a few minutes of the neighborhood. These include Oak Hills Park, City Park, and Walker Ranch Heritage Park. The much larger McAllister Park is located within a mile to the east. This city park spans 986 acres and offers several amenities. Among these are five miles of paved walking trails, 10 miles of unpaved biking paths, baseball and soccer fields, playscapes, a picnic area, and wildlife viewing.

As of 2007, the park also features a dog park with a walking trail, benches, an exercise area, and a covered picnic area. Although they share no affiliation with the park, the Gunn Sports Park and the Texas Transportation Museum are both accessible from here.

Only a few miles south of the Country neighborhood, adjacent to the airport, is the North Star Mall. This popular retail center makes shopping locally an easy task. The rather upscale indoor mall is home to more than 200 specialty stores and restaurants, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s, The Apple Store, and The Cheesecake Factory. A smaller retail area, La Plaza Del Norte, is situated in this area as well.

The Country neighborhood has plenty to offer residents for entertainment, recreation, shopping, and dining. Residents can also hop on the nearby interstate and head into the city or hop on a plane at the nearby airport and head pretty much wherever they want.
