Located just west of downtown San Antonio, Brady Gardens is home to growing families who enjoy the many amenities the area has to offer. Parents can work downtown, which is just short drive on U.S. 90 to I-10, and still have the time to visit their children’s schools.
Brady Gardens is served by the San Antonio Independent School District. Elementary-school children attend either Sarah King Elementary School or Storm Elementary School, while middle-school students enroll at either Tafolla or Rhodes. The area is served by Lanier High School, which was the district’s first vocational school. School administrators encourage perfect attendance with the GAMER program in which children are permitted to take special trips if they have not missed school.
One of San Antonio’s most prestigious universities is located near Brady Park. Our Lady of the Lake University offers 33 bachelor’s degrees, 14 master’s degrees, and two doctoral degrees.
After school, Brady Gardens families can meet in San Juan Brady Park. The park has a community center, playground, basketball court, and tennis courts. For those who would rather observe sports, the Nelson W. Wolff Memorial Stadium is nearby and hosts the city’s minor league baseball team, the San Antonio Missions, also the double-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres.
Serving the area’s heath-care needs is Barrio Comprehensive Family Health Care. The center has pediatricians and women’s health specialists on staff, and the entire family can be treated at this facility.
Brady Gardens is surrounded by historical communities. Some of these were the first neighborhoods incorporated into San Antonio.
