Westchester Park Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Westchester Park is a ten acre park that is located at 501 Rock Prairie Road in zip code 77845. The city of College Station acquired the park in 1988. It is currently known as the Jack and Dorothy Miller Park. It was renamed in 1994 to honor the couple for their dedicated community service.
The boundaries of Westchester Park are Southwood Park to the south and east and Rock Prairie Road to the north. The western boundary lies just east of the back of the homes along Regal Row.
The park is the first joint use project between the city of College Station and the College Station Independent School District. The College Station Middle School is situated at the southernmost edge of Westchester Park, which is connected to Southwood Park, an athletic park. The park is the city’s first community park that is almost solely devoted to athletics.
The collaboration between the city and the school district led to the creation of a dual purpose facility. During the school day, the park is used for school playing fields and as the school playground. After school, and at other times, when school isn’t in session, it is a typical city park.
The park has many amenities, including two playgrounds, a shelter, a basketball court, a 1/3 mile jogging track with a fitness court. There are also practice fields for both baseball and soccer and picnic tables. Southwood Park has athletic fields, sand volleyball courts, lighted tennis courts, basketball courts, playgrounds, horseshoes, a barbecue pit, picnic tables and a pool that is suitable for families.
