Southwood Valley Neighborhood in College Station, TX

Nestled in southeastern College Station, Texas, is the community of Southwood Valley. This community is situated south of Harvey Mitchell Parkway South, north of Deacon Drive, east of Rio Grande Boulevard and west of Longmire Drive. The Earl Rudder Freeway runs past the neighborhood roughly a half-mile to the east. The zip code for this Brazos County community is 77845. Area communities include Regency South, Camelot, Southwood Forest, and West Ridge.

The Southwood Valley neighborhood is primarily residential, consisting of dozens of single-family homes on well-shaded lots. The southeastern portion of the community is home to Southwood Valley Elementary School, situated along Brothers Boulevard. Bounding Harvey Mitchell Parkway hosts a variety of convenient commercial offerings, including a library, post office, bank, and Wal-Mart Supercenter.

A variety of amenities can be found just one mile south of Southwood Valley. More shopping and dining options can be found here at the Rock Prairie Marketplace and Rock Prairie Crossing retail centers, which flank either side of the freeway. Adjacent to the retail centers on the west is the College Station Medical Center, which constitutes a convenient health care option for Southwood Valley residents.

Next to the medical center is Southwood Park, the first park in the city to be devoted nearly entirely to athletics. A variety of soccer and baseball fields can be found here, as well as tennis and basketball courts. Additional amenities include a 75-foot community pool, sand volleyball courts, a playground, and picnic facilities.

Less than two miles northwest of Southwood Valley is Texas A&M University, the pride and joy of College Station and the oldest university of its kind in the state. It is nationally recognized as a top research institution and hosts many award-winning faculty.
