The College Station, Texas community of Edelweiss lies just southeast of College Station and Texas A&M University. The community is divided by Rock Prairie Road with half of the community lying north of the roadway and half to the south. A portion of Edelweiss also lies to the north of Victoria Avenue.

Schools that area students attend include Rock Prairie Elementary School, College Station Middle School, and A&M Consolidated High School. Texas A&M University is situated just to the northwest of Edelweiss. This University, once called The Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, was Texas’ first public institution of higher learning and remains one of the biggest and most tradition-rich in the state today. A&M enrolls nearly 50,000 undergraduate and graduate students, called “Aggies.” Over 250 degree programs in 10 colleges are offered here. A&M is also a popular choice for athletes; it competes at the NCAA Division 1-A level in 20 varsity sports and has a long-running healthy rivalry with the University of Texas in Austin.

Rock Prairie Marketplace, near the Medical Center offers residents a one-stop shopping and dining experience. Kroger is located here, offering residents a nearby grocer, as well as CVS Pharmacy, Wells Fargo, and various cafés and boutiques.

Southwood Park is very convenient for residents of Edelweiss and is the city’s first park devoted almost entirely to athletics. The park features four Little League, lighted baseball fields, two adult league lighted baseball fields, two adult lighted soccer fields, four lighted tennis courts, two lighted basketball courts, a volleyball court, playground, horseshoe pits, and two concession buildings. This park is popular for Little League as well as adult women’s, men’s and co-ed sports leagues throughout the year. Southwood also has a large pool, the Cindy Halloran Pool, as well as a picnic pavilion with a kitchen and barbeque pit.

College Station Medical Center lies just northeast of Edelweiss off of Rock Prairie Road. This hospital provides high quality care for residents and students of College Station.
