Old West Austin is a neighborhood located west of downtown Austin. The borders of the community are Town Lake to the south, Enfield Road to the north, Mopac Expressway to the west, and Lamar Boulevard to the east.

Old West Austin is a historic and diverse neighborhood. It is representative of the many facets that went into the making of Austin. The area has many historic houses and Clarksville, which considered a historic district. Clarksville began as a neighborhood for freed slaves. Though a home to many historic residences, it is also vibrant and filled with shops, restaurants, and new construction. This is a great neighborhood in which to live and to visit.

West Austin Park is located in Clarksville. It has a fenced-in, off-leash dog area as well as basketball courts, a playground, tennis court, wading pool, open space, and picnic tables. There is also one moonlight tower in the neighborhood. Thirty-one of these towers were installed around the city of Austin to provide light. They are now considered historic landmarks since they are more than 100 years old. The Flower Hill Museum is also in Old West Austin.

The Treaty Oak is a 600-year-old tree that is a piece of Austin history. According to legend, Stephen Austin signed a treaty with the local Indians under this very tree. While there are no facts to support this legend, it remains a part of the history of the area.

There are a wide variety of homes in Old West Austin, many of which are more than 100 years old. There are some gorgeous mansions, apartments, and townhouses. This is a pedestrian community, and residents enjoy using the sidewalks to get to local businesses.

An Amtrak station is also located within the neighborhood.
