This rather large community covers more than 1.8 square miles and has over 4,640 residents. Most of the neighborhood is contained by Airport Boulevard to the east, although it does extend past this roadway to the south. It extends to Roy G. Guerrero Park, Lakeshore Park, and Lady Bird Lake on the south. North Pleasant Valley Road creates much of the community’s western boundary, but some areas jut out past this roadway. A discussion of Govalle wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the large park that borders the community – Roy G. Guerrero Park. A dozen or so smaller parks are also within a few minutes of Govalle, so there is no shortage of opportunities for outdoor recreation.

Local shopping is also possible here, with the Govalle Shopping Center located within neighborhood bounds. Here, residents can do their grocery and household shopping at H-E-B and the Family Dollar. There is also an AutoZone and several other small shops in this retail center. Of course, the city of Austin offers a wide range of additional shopping, dining, and entertainment options, which are all within a short drive when you live in Govalle.

Some other area attractions within a few miles of Govalle are the University of Texas – Austin campus, Huston Tillotson College, and the Texas State Capitol.
