The Russwurm Heights neighborhood is a mixed-use residential-commercial neighborhood of modest, single-family homes on small lots. It is bound by Seminole Avenue and Craighead Street in zip code 35211.

Near the heart of downtown Nashville, the neighborhood is conveniently located to several interstates, including I-440 and I-65. Two of the city’s most prestigious educational institutions are a short drive away: Vanderbilt University and George Peabody College. David Lipscomb College, Tennessee State University, Belmont University, and Trevecca Nazarene University are also located in this section of Nashville.

Harding Mall, south about five miles, is a good everyday retail center. For destination shopping, The Mall at Green Hills offers upscale stores and service. Also in the Green Hills area is Whole Foods Grocery. Crescent Plaza is a new, outdoor retail center a few miles east, with a Walgreen’s and several fast-food restaurants.

A lively entertainment district can be found along 12th Avenue South, near Belmont College. Retail stores, bars, and restaurants cater to the students at Belmont, and nearby Peabody and Vanderbilt.

A couple of nice neighborhood parks, Rose Park and Reservoir Park, are a mile or so north. Fort Negley, also close by, is an interesting Civil War site. Only a ten-minute drive away is Nashville’s most famous park, Centennial Park, the site of the Parthenon. This is a landmark building and home of the Nashville Art Museum.

For summer water activities, many enjoy a visit to Nashville Shores, just to the east. The water park, on the shores of J. Percy Priest Reservoir, is a good place for reunions and large parties. Camping is available. But Nashville Shores is just one of more than a dozen recreational areas in the vast J. Percy Priest area. Long Hunter State Park is an especially pretty park of rocky shores and wooded hills.
