For outdoor recreation, residents of Holt Woods head roughly five miles west, to the other side of Interstate 65. Among the options here are Granny White Park and the Radnor Lake Natural Area and Wildlife Refuge. Residents come to the latter to take advantage of hiking trails, fish on Radnor Lake, view wildlife, or take advantage of nature programs.

Another option for outdoor recreation in this area is the Brentwood Country Club on Franklin Road. This beautiful country club offers a challenging 18-hole golf course, stately clubhouse, Olympic-sized swimming pool, and fitness facility, among other amenities.
