West Meade Neighborhood

The West Meade neighborhood in Nashville is a residential area tucked away among forests and greenery in between two of the busiest streets of the city’s west side. As the neighborhood is large, it contains the character of the history of Nashville and modern Nashville as well.

On the historic side, West Meade has some of the city’s most attractive homes and landscapes, but perhaps none more so than the Belle Meade Plantation located on the neighborhood’s north west edge on Harding Pike. The plantation is an attraction for many around the state as they visit to take a look into Middle Tennessee’s past, marveling at the huge main house, giant oak trees, and colorful flora.

On the modern side, there’s the bustling of new residents along Charlotte Avenue. This part of Nashville is growing rapidly, with new shops and restaurants appearing every season along with the relatively new Nashville West mall.

There are several schools in and nearby the West Meade neighborhood, including Gower Elementary, West Meade Elementary, St. Henry’s Catholic School, Nashville Christian School, Hillwood High School, and the Akiva School, affiliated with the Gordon Jewish Community Center.

The Gordon Community Center is a privately run operation but offers a gym, fitness center, tennis courts, soccer fields, and a large pool to its members. West Side Athletic Club and Boost Fitness are also located in West Meade on the Harding Pike side. Hillwood Country Club offers a private golf facility.

There are several parks within a short drive of West Meade, including the Edwin and Percy Warner park facilities. These parks focus on getting Nashville in tune with the natural environment and offer trails that take you deep into the woods and observe birds and the occasional deer. Red Caboose Park offers a big playground for the kids and a community center nearby.
