Carlyle Place encompasses zip code 37211. The community is bounded by Currey Road on the north and east, Briley Parkway on the south and Thompson Lane and Interstate 24 on the west. The area is primarily residential, although there is a shopping center, restaurants and a church in the neighborhood.
Of the many appealing aspects of Carlyle Place is Seven Oaks Disc Golf Course, which is located outside of the neighborhood to the southeast. This challenging course runs through open land and forests. Cumberland Park is located not too far away to the northwest. It has a jogging track. Also nearby Carlyle Place is Coleman Park, which has a football/soccer field and the Coleman Recreation Center. The latter facility offers programs for youth and senior citizens.
The Nashville Zoo lies to the west of Carlyle Place. The zoo is home to animals from around the world and offers residents a variety of educational programs, such as children’s summer camps, and the Wildlife on Wheels Program. With the latter program, zoo employees transport animals to local schools and children’s groups, providing educational presentations.
Right outside of the eastern border of Carlyle Place is the 340-acre Nashville International Airport. This airport is commercial and military and served nearly 10 million passengers in 2008. The U.S. Army used the airport during World War II.
