Banbury Crossing sounds like a name for a bridge; however, the road and community that bears this name doesn’t have one. In fact, there are no large bodies of water or rivers to cross in this community. Still, Banbury Crossing is an apt name. It is a community that bridges suburban Nashville with its agricultural past. Here, tree-lined streets with modern homes meander through farmlands and open fields.

The community is not without its amenities. Edmondson Pike – which forms its eastern border – is its commercial center. It is also the location of Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church and Community Bible Church. Also, on this community’s main street (Banbury Station) is the Banbury Crossing public swimming pool. Another feature of this community is the Montessori Academy, one of the largest schools in the region. It is situated near Lake Waterloo, one of two reservoirs near Banbury Crossing.

Still, its biggest attraction is that it offers suburban living in the country while being fairly close to Nashville’s city life. The hills, fields, woodlands, open fields and farms surrounding Banbury Crossing creates a community free from urban sprawl. At the same time, roads such as Edmondson Pike connect with highways and freeways leading to the heart of Nashville.

Banbury Crossing (the road), also connects with a freeway. It turns into Old Smyrna Road, heads west through the country side until it reaches Interstate 65, one of the major commuter arteries in the area.

Something else stands out about the streets in this community; almost every street in this community bears the name of Banbury. There’s Banbury Station, which connects to its southern border street, Banbury Crossing. Also, off Banbury Crossing, is the small street, Banbury Place.

Banbury is a new community. However, it’s a community that connects the country with suburban living.
