Greenville, South Carolina’s Cotton Street Area is located to the east of Poinsett Highway, south of Rutherford Road, and west of North Main Street. The triangular shaped southern community sits just north of West Stone Avenue. Familiar Greenville neighborhoods surrounding the Cotton Street Area include Park Place, Overbrook, Nicholtown, Judson, and City View. The diverse Greenville community offers residents dwellings in historic districts, downtown areas, and older, established neighborhoods.

The Cotton Street Area community is book-ended by several local city Greenville parks, such as Poe Mill Park to the west of the neighborhood and Timmons Park and Arthur Black Park to the east. The southern town sits at the foothills of the local natural resource and recreational attraction, the Appalachian Mountains. Hiking and rock climbing are popular outdoor recreational sports for residents of the area. Chimney Rock State Park is a prominent destination for Greenville locals seeking such venues.

The downtown district of Greenville sits due south of the Cotton Street Area, making commutes to that area quick and easy for residents. The downtown district is pedestrian-friendly with its multiple parks, plazas, and even waterfall features. Additionally, Interstate 385, which runs east to west, is accessible a few blocks to the southeast of the area. The Greenville Downtown Airport sits just below Interstate 385, minutes to the southeast of the neighborhood, as well.

Bob Jones University, a large local employer and huge source of student renters during the academic term is located just a few miles to the east of the Cotton Street Area community. As a result, Greenville is a college town, especially with the inclusion of another local university, Furman.
