Overbrook Neighborhood

Originally known as Pleasantburg, Greenville is a South Carolina city of more than 56,000 in the northwestern corner of the state. Easy access to Interstate 85/385 links the city to Atlanta, Charlotte, and Columbia. Its downtown area is considered upstate South Carolina’s largest central business district. Just north of downtown, less than a mile away, is the residential neighborhood of Overbrook.

Overbrook, located in the 29607 zip code, is adjacent to the Greenville Downtown Airport, the state’s third-busiest airport. Overbrook is a neighborhood with ample green space and homes sitting atop gently sloping lots.

The circular Overbrook Court is shaded by tall trees offering privacy to homes set back from the narrow street. Woodville Avenue winds lazily through Overbrook, with residences peeking out from behind a curtain of woods. The connecting road of Hillside Drive also has modest homes on shaded lots.

The neighborhood of Overbrook is south of Greenville’s Bob Jones University, a private school. Overbrook is also minutes from the city’s Arthur Black Park, Timmons Park, and Cleveland Park.

Timmons Park on Oxford Street is less than a mile from the center of Overbrook. The 26-acre park has lighted ball fields and tennis courts plus a children’s playground and an 18-hole disc golf course. Its mountain bike trail extends more than mile, with scenic trails along the park’s winding creek.

Cleveland Park, known as the City Park, is just off East Washington Street. In addition to facilities for softball, tennis, and volleyball, the park has one of Greenville’s most popular dog parks. It is also home to the Greenville Zoo and the historic Rock Quarry Garden.

From Overbrook, Greenville’s downtown section is just minutes away. The free Downtown Trolley runs a route around central downtown, including a stop at Greenville Drive Stadium/Fluor Field, the home field of the city’s minor league baseball team.
